Bahati Nzuri L'occitane summer

Lotion has been my go-to product for the longest time – and during the summer? Well, I just add a touch of sunscreen and Voila- I’m good to go. Almost a few hours later, my skin became drier than ever, and the sunscreen mixed with the pool water ended up making me look like a purple greaseball.

NOT. CUTE.

They’re so many ways to prep your skin to help you stay moisturized and retain that amazing summer glow (No lotion involved!)

L'occitane Almond Collection Bahati Nzuri Flat Lay

I switched up my routine and I’m currently using products from L’occitane’s Almond Skin Collection. Not only do they make you smell incredible but my skin stays moisturized for hours, plus the glow is subtle but still perfect enough to slay in a swimsuit!

Here are my steps on prepping my skin for that summer glow.

     1. . Hydrate

If I know I’m about to be out in the sun for a couple of hours I bump up my water intake a few hours or even a whole day before. First, it helps you lose all the water weight which can help you look a little bit slimmer and two, it flushes away all the toxins and helps your skin look fresher and more lively.

  2.  Warm showers.

I’m a girl who loves her HOT showers but, they’re not ideal for summer skin care prep as they strip oils from the skin which makes it feel drier. Instead, I opt for a short warm shower, which is already so comfortable and refreshing.

   3.  Cleanse

During my shower, I cleanse with L’Occitane’s Cleansing And Softening Shower OilI know it seems a little counterintuitive to use oil in the shower but the moisture you retain in your skin is incredible! The formula turns into light foam once in contact with water and I later rinse it off and it leaves a marvelous scent and subtle glow.

  4. Moisturize

After lightly patting down a towel onto my skin, I almost immediately take my L’Occitane’s Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Milk Concentrate and apply it evenly over my skin to lock in the moisture. I was shocked to discover how light this product it is. It’s similar to a body butter but has a whipped cream texture that gets instantly absorbed into the skin. Plus of course, it smells ah-MAZING.

   5.. Glow

For that extra glow, I use L’Occitane’s Almond Smoothing and Beautifying Supple Skin Oil and apply evenly on my skin, mostly focusing on my shoulders and legs and other areas that I would like highlighted. The product absorbs quickly into the skin and it doesn’t leave me feeling greasy.

  6.  Protect

To add an extra layer of protection I spray a light sheen of SPF 30+ Sunscreen! I prefer the spray to the lotion because I’m able to retain the moisture underneath without mixing around all the products I’ve already applied
